DayBreaks for 12/06/13 – The Walk Talks
Acts 4:13 (NLT) The members of the council were amazed when they saw the boldness of Peter and John, for they could see that they were ordinary men with no special training in the Scriptures. They also recognized them as men who had been with Jesus.
There is a saying in life that if you’re going to “talk the talk” you’d better “walk the walk”, meaning your actions need to live up to what you say. It’s a good motto – anything short of walking the walk once you’ve talked the talk in Christianity is hypocrisy.
“That man must have been in the army, or in a military school,” a man once said to his friend.
“Yes,” he said; “how did you know?”
“By the way he walks.”
You can tell that some people have been with Jesus by their walk. You can also tell people who have not been with Jesus by their walk. Sadly, sometimes those who put on the greatest show to appear spiritual are the ones who have spent little or no time with Jesus.
What does your walk say about you?
PRAYER: Let our walk proclaim nothing but You, Lord. Keep us from cheap talk and all hypocrisy! In Jesus’ name, Amen.
